New Movies To Watch This Apr 2017
Colossal (Apr 7th)
Very little is known about "Colossal," but this film has all the elements of possibly being a refreshing, original, quirky indie feature. It's kind of random, but also kind of awesome, that an Oscar-winning, A-list Hollywood actress such as Anne Hathaway is involved in something that feels so fresh-outta-college (even though writer-director Nacho Vigalondo actually has an extensive IMDb page). This movie is definitely not going to be for everyone, but I'm intrigued!
The Fate of the Furious (Apr 14th)
With the great March success of "Logan" and "Beauty and the Beast," it's quite clear that summer blockbusters have decidedly come early in 2017. To keep up with the box office inflow, comes the eighth installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise: "The Fate of the Furious." These movies are always kind of the same thing over and over, including the fact that they bring in a lot of cash. If the death of actor Paul Walker was the underlying theme in "Furious 7," this time it surely is the reported behind-the-scenes drama between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson / The Rock. Also, "Fate" introduces Charlize Theron to the franchise. So there's that.
The Circle (Apr 28th)
"The Circle" is a feature film starring Tom Hanks, Emma Watson, and John Boyega, with a very timely story about a technology company's predatory behavior regarding data-mining. This movie will either be incredible or cringe-worthy – there is no middle ground. It's quite curious that Emma Watson will return to the big screen so close to the "Beauty and the Beast" release in March, possibly even having both movies showing consecutively in certain theaters.
